St Joseph Affordable Homes News Edition 4 – 2025
Project Highlight – Triabunna
Our Triabunna development is progressing steadily, delivering much-needed housing to the East Coast community. This project will provide 36 quality units, offering a mix of 1–3 bedroom homes tailored to meet a range of needs.
Construction Progress:
- 30 frames completed
- Roofs installed on 20 units
- Brickwork underway on 8 units
- Windows fitted in 20 units

Whilst this flat site has presented some drainage challenges, our team has responded with precision attention to detail to ensure efficient and quality outcomes to keep the site progressing on schedule.
This site is a partnership between Loreto Community Housing and the East Coast Anglican Parish. It is a testament to the community spirit behind this initiative. The homes will be managed by Loreto, continuing their mission to provide safe, affordable housing.

Welcome to the Team
We warmly welcome Jeriah, our newest apprentice! Training as a joiner, he will be working with Adam and Corey at the St Joseph Affordable Homes Joinery Workshop.
We also congratulate Adam Wills in his move over to his new role, Estimator & Contracts Manager. His skill set will greatly benefit this area of the business and expand on the fantastic work that Jacob does in this space.
Bella Quinn has now stepped into the role of In-House Trades and Apprentice Manager to ensure the continued support of our St Joseph’s team onsite.
Staff Milestones
Thank you and congratulations to Paul Roland (4 years) and Brant Webster (5 years)!
Paul’s contributions, particularly in the final stages of our projects is integral to achieving high quality outcomes. We are grateful for Rolly’s dedication and commitment to ensuring all the finer details are taken care of without fuss.
Brant was the first employee of St Joseph Affordable Homes and was tasked with building a team to carry the mission and purpose of the organisation into the future. Now 5 years on with 60 staff and more than 500 homes being completed, he certainly achieved his original goal. Brant’s industry experience and strategic thinking have been of huge value in the success of St Joseph Affordable Homes to date. We are so grateful for Brant’s guidance and leadership and congratulate him on his amazing achievements over the past 5 years!
Work Health & Safety
Everyone – including all staff, contractors, and visitors – need to scan into site every time.
Scanning onto our construction sites ensures real-time site occupancy, provides mandatory site inductions for first-time workers, and quick access to critical safety information like the Site-Specific Safety Plan.
Scanning onto site also streamlines safety management, providing a clear record of who is onsite in case of an emergency and ensuring everyone has the necessary safety information from the moment they arrive.
So please remember to scan the QR code every time that you enter a site and don’t forget to log off when you leave.
If you have any questions about how to do this, please chat to the site supervisor or Sam O’Brien.

Apprentice Updates
We are excited to celebrate the success of our apprentices.
First of all, congratulations to Will Banks who has been announced as a finalist in the Tasmanian Training Awards in the Equity Apprentice category. The Tasmanian Training Awards is an annual event recognising, rewarding and celebrating outstanding achievements in the vocational education and training sector by apprentices, trainees and vocational students as well as the teachers, trainers, training providers and employers who support them. We look forward to celebrating this achievement with Will at the awards night on the 19th of September.
We also congratulate Luis Jenkins for being the runner up in the Association of Wall and Ceiling Industries & Siniat Apprentice Challenge on the 25th August!. This is a remarkable achievement for a second year apprentice. All of us at St Joseph Affordable Homes are extremely proud.

Homelessness, Housing & Beyond
To recognise Homelessness Week (4–10 August), St Joseph Affordable Homes, CatholicCare Tasmania, and Loreto Community Housing joined forces to raise awareness and advocate for lasting solutions to homelessness through a powerful public exhibit on Hobart’s waterfront.
Held at Mawson Place between 31 July and 6 August, the Homelessness, Housing & Beyond exhibit invited visitors to step into the shoes of Tasmanians experiencing housing insecurity. Inspired by real stories, the display offered a deeply personal look into the challenges faced by individuals and families navigating homelessness and housing stress.
The success of the project was made possible thanks to staff volunteers from all three organisations, who gave their time, energy, and compassion to bring the exhibit to life. Their efforts helped create a space for learning, reflection, and connection.
A heartfelt thank you also goes to project supporters Document Management Tasmania, Fleet Containers, Power Solutions Tasmania, Globes Lighting, New Norfolk Mitre 10, Tas Trans, City of Hobart, and Parker Productions for their in-kind contributions.

‘R U OK? Day’ 2025
R U OK? Day 2025 was held on Thursday 11th September. It is Australia’s national day of action for mental health, encouraging people to start conversations with those who may be struggling.
